Another informative post, respect for not wallowing in self - pity, and taking time to share your newly gained knowledge with us all. The chemotherapy history post was particularly illuminating, for some reason, information seems to lessen it's impact. Cheers Guy

Well done Guy, another big milestone completed. More than anything (for me at least) it’s a mental game now post treatment.

Congratulations on finishing your radiotherapy. My own background is prostatectomy in 2023, radiotherapy 2024, and I've still got a year to go on hormone therapy. It's always good to read other peoples experiences, no two of us seem to be same.

The purpose of my comment is to ask if you have considered adding resistance training to your fitness regime? Like you I am a runner, and I agree with you that it is enormously beneficial to have a good baseline fitness to help get through the treatment. However there is some evidence that resistance training (i.e. lifting weights) is beneficial in delaying prostate cancer progression/recurrence. I work with a trainer to whom I was referred by the Marsden. As well as potentially helping to delay any recurrence of the cancer, it also helps to minimise the muscle loss caused by Hormone Therapy.

I would highly recommend you give it a go, either with your own trainer, or if you want details of the trainer I use who is a specialist in prostate cancer patients, then let me know.

That is worth pursuing Ross, and I'll take a look. What passes for resistance training right now is about 300 push-ups a week (which is particularly non-trivial at my post chemo weight!). Thanks for the input, much appreciated.
